IF YOU HAVE FRIENDS E.G. AS PART OF A BABY GROUP, WHO WOULD ALSO LIKE TO BENEFIT FROM BABY SIGN LANGUAGE WE CAN POSSIBLY COME TO YOU AND RUN A DEDICATED CLASS  (minimum 5) PLEASE GET IN TOUCH FOR MORE DETAILS OR TO ARRANGE A TASTER SESSION.

A 'Babies Can Sign' folder is given out to each parent/carer at the first class so you can keep all your handouts and songsheets together. In addition a booklet is also given at the first class containing everything we cover in the classes.
 
GET YOUR BABY'S FIRST CERTIFICATE! Certificates of attendance will be given to every baby/child who attends a block of classes.

The classes are held in a relaxed, friendly and informal environment. Feel free to attend to your baby's needs whether it be nappy changing, feeding or giving snacks. Toys and a comfy rug are provided if you're baby wants to roll or potter around during the class. As you know they are not robots so cannot be expected to sit and join in all the time, they will do that when they feel like it. 

We are teaching you as the parents and carers how to sign and incorporate signing into your daily lives with your babies for the other 6 days and 23 hours you are not with us! 

We use British Sign Language Signs. Not only is it an existing language, it has as many signs as you require. It also gives you another language and skill to use in the wider community.

Class Type

Beginners -
An introductory block of classes where parents/care givers will learn between 60 and 80 signs which we consider an excellent foundation.

Themes include:
* Essentials e.g. milk, eat, nappy change
* Family e.g. Mummy, Daddy
* Basic animals e.g. cat, dog, bird
* Feelings e.g. sad, happy, pain
* Food e.g. cereal, bread, banana
* Other basics such as essential clothing items and signs for toys, play etc

These are taught to parents/care givers through a variety of methods including stories, songs, rhymes, picture cards, handouts and games.

Themes and activities taught in the class are backed up by clear diagrammatic handouts and song sheets which will aid you signing with your baby when not in class.

Intermediate

A further block of 6 weeks where parents/caregivers will learn at least 50 more signs. We will recap and use signs learnt in the previous block, reinforcing rhymes etc which the babies and children love.

Themes include:

* Weather e.g. rain, snow, sun
* Clothes e.g. scarf, trousers
* More animals e.g. monkey, lion, snake
* More food e.g. rice, sandwich
* Routines e.g. brush hair, clean teeth
* Colours
* Manners e.g. share, careful

Again these will be taught through a variety of methods to equip parents/caregivers with everything they will need to sign with their baby/child.

NB There is no obligation to attend the Intermediate Class if you have done the Beginners one but you must attend the Beginners Class before enrolling on the Intermediate one.
